Trustee Training
Under the terms of the
Pensions Act 2004 trustees are expected to:
§ be conversant with the documents governing their pension scheme
§ have a knowledge and understanding of the laws relating to pension
schemes and trusts
§ understand the principles behind funding and investment
This requirement has been
given the title ‘Trustee Knowledge and Understanding” or “TKU”. Trustees have
until 6th October 2006 to meet the Pension Regulator’s TKU standards.
Alexander Forbes Trustee
Services has developed a TKU self assessment test, which is a free service
designed to identify gaps in trustees’ knowledge and understanding and to
enable trustee training programmes to be tailored to meet trustees’ specific
needs. Trustees complete a questionnaire which interrogates their knowledge and
understanding of the key features of pension law and management, as required by
The Pension Regulator. We will analyse the results and provide a complete ‘TKU
Healthcheck’ to trustees identifying any gaps in their knowledge and
understanding.
Alexander Forbes Trustee
Services has the skills and experience to help trustees to meet the TKU
requirement, offering standard trustee training sessions or bespoke, modular
trustee training addressing the gaps that are identified in the TKU
Healthcheck.
